When to use Seedream 5.0 Lite

Seedream 5.0 Lite is the drafting tier of the Seedream family and one of the two cheapest images on the platform. It keeps the family's visual reasoning, the bias towards scenes that hold together physically, at a price close to the bottom of the catalogue, and it takes the same large reference stack as the Pro. That makes it the right partner for Seedream 5.0 Pro in a two step workflow: block out the scene here, check that the objects, hands and light are behaving, then rerun the identical prompt and references on the Pro for the frame you are going to publish. Because it has a single quality setting there is nothing to tune, which keeps the drafting loop fast. It is also perfectly good as a finishing model for feed-sized work. Carousel panels, background plates, alternate crops of a shot you have already approved and anything a viewer will see for two seconds on a phone do not need the Pro tier, and the saving compounds quickly across a batch. Where it falls short is close scrutiny: fine texture, small in-frame text and intricate hands are where the gap against the Pro shows. Move up when the image is going to be large, when someone is going to look at it for more than a moment, or when it is about to become the start frame of a video generation, since motion amplifies every flaw in the still. Move sideways to GPT Image 2 if you want the absolute cheapest exploration and do not need this family's scene reasoning.
