When to use GPT Image 2

GPT Image 2 is OpenAI's image model on Influverse and the cheapest way into the image catalogue. It is the only family here with three explicitly named quality tiers, Fast, Balanced and Best, and the Fast tier is the least expensive image you can generate on the platform. That makes it the natural exploration model: when you do not yet know what the picture is, generate ten cheap versions here, find the composition that works, and then decide whether to finish it on this model at the Best tier or move the settled prompt to Nano Banana Pro or Seedream 5.0 Pro. It generates from text, edits from references, and takes a large reference stack, so it is not a toy tier: the Best setting produces publishable work. Its particular strength is following written instruction, including text placement in the frame and multi part directions in a single prompt, which is why it is a reasonable first choice for anything with a graphic element: a quote card, an image with a label on the product, a layout that has to read like a designed asset rather than a photo. Where you would move off it is likeness. For a recurring character that has to be recognisably the same person across a long series, the Gemini family's semantic editing holds the face more reliably. And for scenes with a lot of interacting objects that have to make physical sense, Seedream 5.0 Pro is the more literal model. Treat GPT Image 2 as the sketchbook and the graphic design tool of the catalogue.
