How to pick a TikTok username

1. Decide what the account is about. Pick the topic you will post most. A topic word in the username tells a viewer what to expect before they follow.
2. Keep it easy to say. If you mention your handle at the end of a video, a short username with few separators is easier to catch by ear.
3. Generate and shortlist. Run a few sets with the same keyword, then copy the ideas you would be happy to see on every video.
4. Check it in the app. Search for the username on TikTok and try it in your profile settings before you plan anything around it.

Username and display name

A TikTok profile shows two names. The username comes after the @ and is part of your profile link. The display name sits above it and can include spaces, so a longer brand name can live there while the username stays short.
