When to use Veo 3.1

Veo 3.1 is Google's flagship in the catalogue and the most controllable video model we offer. It takes text, an image, keyframes and a small set of reference images, it supports first and last frame control, it can extend a clip, it exposes three resolutions including 4K, and audio is a priced toggle rather than a fixed cost. That is the widest control surface of any video model here, and it is why Veo is the right choice for work that has to hit a brief rather than merely look good. Advertising is the obvious case: a specific product on a specific surface in specific light, where the difference between the shot you asked for and a shot that is nearly right is the difference between usable and not. The keyframe and reference support is what gets you there. Its constraint is length. The duration menu is short, shorter than Kling O3 or anything in the Seedance family, so Veo is a shot model rather than a scene model. Build long pieces by generating several Veo shots and cutting them together, using the last frame of one as the first frame of the next, or by using its extend capability on the take that is working. On price, Veo sits at the top of the catalogue and the audio toggle adds meaningfully to it, so this is not the model to explore ideas on.
