When to use Nano Banana Pro

Nano Banana Pro is the flagship of the Gemini image family and the one to use when the image is the deliverable rather than a step towards one. It shares the semantic editing behaviour of Nano Banana 2, so plain language changes still apply cleanly and the face still survives them, but it holds far more detail at the top quality tier and accepts a larger reference stack, which matters when a shot has to carry a character, an outfit and a product all at once. Reach for it for anything that will be seen large or examined closely: a landing page hero, an ad creative, a thumbnail that has to win against other thumbnails, a print or out of home placement, or the start frame of a video generation where every flaw in the still is about to be amplified by motion. The cost profile is unusual and worth understanding. Its lower two tiers are priced close together, and the top 4K tier is a large step above them. That makes the middle tier the sweet spot for most work and the top tier a deliberate choice you make for a specific frame, not a default you leave switched on. Draft on Nano Banana 2 or GPT Image 2, settle the composition, then bring the prompt here. Where it is the wrong tool: bulk generation, where the price difference against Nano Banana 2 compounds across dozens of images with no visible benefit on a phone screen, and pure text to image exploration, where a cheaper model gets you to the same idea faster.
